The City of North Port is constructing a 4.19-acre Boca Chica Neighborhood Park on Boca Chica Avenue, between Ponds and Oceanside Street. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on November 20, 2025. The park will provide a nature-focused, community-oriented space for an underserved area, featuring walking paths, a playground, and a protected gopher tortoise habitat.
Key Project Details
The project aims to enhance the neighborhood with a serene, nature-focused space that supports the long-term goals of the City of North Port's Parks & Recreation Department.

DMK is proud to deliver civil engineering expertise for the new Temporary Modular Fire Station 3 at Randy Spence Park. In close collaboration with KPA Architecture, OCI Associates, LLC (CMTA), and BPI Surveying, Inc., our team will guide every step of the project, from initial planning and site analysis to design, permitting, and CEI services.
Together, we will oversee the relocation and construction of a 24-by-56-foot modular fire station, along with vital infrastructure upgrades, all in alignment with the Community Services master site plan for Randy Spence Park.

DMK is collaborating with KPA Architecture on Fire Station 7 in Sarasota County. The Rezone application is under review, and we are refining the station’s design. The fully functional temporary fire station will include a manufactured doublewide bunkhouse for six staff, a two-bay drive-through pre-engineered metal building with storage, paving, grading, drainage, utility connections, landscaping, and site lighting. The design will support the future construction of a permanent fire station while the temporary facility remains operational.

DMK is proud to have helped complete the family-friendly addition to this park. According to the Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs (FDVA), Florida is ranked third in terms of the highest veteran population. Charlotte County alone has almost 200,00 among its population. It's a privilege to have been part of the project and bring more veteran recognition and appreciation to our community.
DMK completed the planning, site analysis, design, and construction services for the new park entry drive, playground, playground parking, pedestrian walkways, and covered pavilion.
In the future, we can look forward to a kayak launch and a new interactive/educational memorial.

On this Park project, DMK was requested by the architectural team to provide all services related to land surveying, site planning, stormwater management, seawall and dock permitting, utility designs and permitting, assistance with FDEP permitting for activities seaward of the Coastal Construction Control Line and general coordination with the Architectural and Planning group charged with obtaining public and local input.
Coastal engineering, design, and permitting by DMK included FDEP ERP permitting for docks, kayak launch, and boardwalks, as well as FDEP Coastal Construction Control Line permitting for emergency vehicular access to the beach, pedestrian access ramp, and observation deck.
In developing plans, public involvement was necessary to make sure that the end product is meaningful and valuable to the surrounding community. Making Bayfront Park the success that it is.
